It is recommended to be at the airport at least 4 hours in advance. Arrival in Madrid at night. Transfer to the hotel by shuttle bus (service provided by the hotel). Accommodation.
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport by hotel shuttle bus (service provided by the hotel). Flight to Zurich. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Free time. In the afternoon, you will receive information about the start of your tour through information boards located in the hotel reception.
We will leave for BERNE, the capital of the country and one of the most beautiful historic cities in Switzerland. We will ascend to the Rose Garden to enjoy a panoramic view of the city. Free time for a stroll and lunch. In the afternoon, we will head to French-speaking Switzerland. We will stop in FRIBOURG, a beautiful bilingual city. Then we will continue towards Lake Geneva, where we will stop in NYON, a small Roman-origin city on the shores of the lake. From here, we will take a boat to cross Lake Geneva to France. Arrival in YVOIRE, a beautiful medieval village on the lake, with fortified gates, a castle, and flower-filled streets. GENEVA – Arrival at the end of the day. Note: Our hotel is usually located in the French outskirts of the metropolis.
After breakfast, we will include a panoramic tour of Geneva, a city on Lake Geneva that hosts the European headquarters of the United Nations, the World Labor Organization, the Red Cross, and numerous other international organizations. We will go to the Palais des Nations (European headquarters of the United Nations), visit the beautiful English Garden with its flower clock, and admire the 'Jet d'Eau', the highest fountain in Europe. We will continue through vineyards to CHILLON CASTLE, built on the waters of Lake Geneva. Entry to this fantastic medieval castle is included. We will then head to the picturesque walled town of GRUYERES, famous worldwide for its cheese. Nearby are some of Switzerland's leading chocolate manufacturers (including NESTLE). We will visit the Cailler chocolate factory, with a sweet tasting included! We will continue through scenic mountain roads and typical wooden villages. Arrival in LEYSIN in the late afternoon, a lovely holiday village. Dinner included. Note: Sometimes accommodation will be in another Swiss city in the heart of the Alps (usually Matigny).
Today's stage has beautiful high-mountain landscapes. Don’t forget your winter clothes, as we will ascend to one of Switzerland's most spectacular viewpoints where you can see ice and snow all year round. We will include the ascent by cable car to GLACIER 3000, where you can walk on the suspension bridge between two mountain peaks, visit the Ice Cathedral, or enjoy the Fun Park. We will stop in INTERLAKEN and have time for lunch. Then we will travel to the AARESLUCHT GORGES. We will then take the Sustenpass, one of Switzerland's most beautiful roads that runs between glaciers and leads us to Italian-speaking Switzerland. Accommodation in CHIASSO, a Swiss town on the border with Italy. Note: Due to force majeure, such as rain or strong winds, the Glacier 3000 cable car may not operate on certain dates. Note: The Sustenpass road is usually closed until the end of May and from mid-October. In this case, the journey will be made via alternative highways/roads.
We will visit LUGANO, the cosmopolitan capital of Italian-speaking Switzerland, situated by its beautiful lake. Time for a stroll. We will then cross the San Gotardo highway tunnel. We will stop in BURGLEN, the small village where William Tell was born, and see the 16th-century chapel with paintings illustrating his life. You can also visit, if you wish, the William Tell Museum. In the nearby town of ALTDORF, we will also find memories of his story. LUCERNE – free afternoon to explore this beautiful city by the lake of the same name. We will suggest an optional cruise on the Lake of the Four Cantons, considered one of Switzerland's most beautiful lakes.
We will head to EINSIEDELN, whose immense baroque abbey is Switzerland's main pilgrimage site. We will then continue east through Switzerland. We will pass through MAINFELD, the inspiration for the Heidi novel/story. In HEIDIDORF, we will visit Heidi's house (entrance to the house is not included, open to the public), a picturesque place among beautiful landscapes accessible via a pedestrian path. We will enter the small independent country of Liechtenstein, in its capital VADUZ, under the shadow of its castle. Free time to stroll and have lunch. Later, we will go to the nearby city of FELDKIRCH, in Austria, near the borders of Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Germany. A charming walled town with its beautiful medieval center and castle. Free time.
We will depart for St. GALLEN, whose center has been declared a World Heritage Site with its magnificent cathedral and medieval old town. We will then continue along Lake Constance, between Germany and Switzerland. A walk through the center of CONSTANZA before heading to MAINAU ISLAND (access by footbridge) with its beautiful botanical garden (entry included). Afterward, back in Switzerland, we will stroll through STEIN AM RHEIN, a picturesque town on the Rhine River, with beautifully painted houses. We will also visit (entry included) the Rhine Falls, the largest waterfall by volume in Europe. Arrival in ZURICH at the end of the day.
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for your return flights to Colombia.
